HOOKING UP: The Basics of Aid Climbing – How to Get Out of Trouble

Fabio Elli, author of *HOOKING UP: The Definitive Manual for Aid Climbing and Big Walls*, is one of Italy’s top experts in aid climbing. With years of experience in some of the most challenging environments, Fabio has become a leading figure in this specialized discipline. At the festival, he will be offering a workshop designed to introduce participants to the fundamentals of aid climbing and how to apply these skills in the “hottest” situations encountered in alpinism and multi-pitch routes. Whether the climbing gets too difficult or you’re faced with unexpected obstacles, knowing how to use aid techniques can make all the difference in ensuring you stay efficient, safe, and fast even when things get tough.

If you’re looking to explore the world of aid climbing or simply want to learn valuable techniques for getting out of tight spots when free climbing gets overwhelming, this workshop is for you. Fabio will guide you through essential skills that will help you navigate difficult sections with confidence, using gear and methods specifically tailored to aid climbing scenarios.

The workshop will take place on Friday, the 27th, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Ice Park, near the dry tooling routes.
