TIPS & TRICKS
Climbing in Orco Valley
Orco Valley has so much to offer, with something for every taste and every style of climbing: bouldering, trad, multipitch, and sport climbing.
Welcome to the climbing paradise
Orco Valley is a true climbing playground, with endless possibilities for every style. From world-class bouldering and legendary granite cracks to adventurous trad routes, long multipitch lines, and beautiful sport crags, there’s always something new to climb. Whatever your grade or style, grab your shoes, follow the granite, and go explore the valley!

New lines, new areas
The festival lasts a few days. The climbing stays.
Every year, a huge amount of work happens behind the scenes to explore the Valley, rediscover forgotten boulders and bring new lines and entire new areas back to life.
It means walking through the woods looking for rock, clearing vegetation, brushing holds, cleaning landings and opening access trails. A long, mostly invisible process carried out together with local climbers and friends of the festival, with one simple goal: to leave something behind for the climbing community long after the festival is over.
Over the past two years, this work has focused on Area 51 and Luna Park, two beautiful bouldering areas that have been cleaned, developed and mapped, adding a whole new collection of problems to Valle Orco’s already incredible climbing playground.
The maps below are an invitation to go and discover them.
Area 51

Cleaned and developed in 2024, Area 51 is home to more than 50 boulder problems, with something for every level, from easy and approachable lines to much harder challenges.
The area faces north, making it a perfect summer climbing spot, but thanks to some sun reaching the boulders during the day, it is also highly recommended in spring and autumn.
Expect high-quality granite, great landings and a huge variety of climbing styles: technical slabs, powerful moves, crimps, compression and plenty of lines worth coming back for.
Pixieland

Cleaned and developed for VOCF 2025, Pixieland is a scattered bouldering area located on the orographic right side of the valley, between Rifugio Fonti Minerali and the Ice Park.
Hidden among the trees are some real gems and plenty of interesting lines, waiting to be discovered away from the valley’s most popular sectors.
Most of the boulders stay well shaded throughout the day, making Pixieland a great choice for warm, sunny days when cooler conditions are hard to find elsewhere.
A small playground to explore, with quality granite, hidden lines and plenty of reasons to wander through the woods with a crash pad on your back.
Lunapark

LUNA PARK
Located just below Droide crag, Luna Park is a south-facing bouldering area packed with great lines of every shape, height and difficulty, from low and friendly problems to proud highballs, and from easy climbs to much harder challenges.
Thanks to its sunny exposure, it is a perfect choice for colder days and the shoulder seasons, when soaking up some sun between attempts makes all the difference.
With plenty of accessible boulders and comfortable areas to hang out, Luna Park is also a great spot for families and kids, while still offering enough quality lines and harder problems to keep experienced climbers psyched.
A sunny playground with something for everyone, which is exactly where the name comes from.
